New Beginnings

It’s New Year’s Eve day and yesterday was my last day of employment at a company that I called home for over 17 years. Yes, it is certainly a bittersweet time.  Aside from the obvious, one of the hardest parts of leaving a job is leaving people. Many times co-workers and colleagues become close friends and that is the case with me. However, in this world of Facebook, texting, e-mail and the good old-fashioned telephone, no one is ever too far away.

It’s hard to imagine not going “to work” after working continuously for almost 38 years.  When I think about it, I know that I am luckier than a lot of folks.  A woman I spoke to recently has been laid off three times in her career and she is younger than me.  The one thing that I believe is that God will guide me on my journey and will lead me to the place that I am meant to be. But until I find that place, I must fill my days.  The hustle and bustle of Christmas and getting some affairs in order have kept me busy so far. Next week though, all of the holiday buzz will be ending and..now what????

As many of you know, my sister writes a blog, Knit One, Pearl Onion, and she has inspired me to write as well.  So during my unexpected hiatus, I am going to become a blogger.  I will share my thoughts on people, books, movies, miscellaneous shenanigans...anything goes; well almost anything.  I will do my best to make the read interesting, entertaining and humorous.

So, as I start my new journey…I will welcome the new year with outstretched arms and an open heart.  I will certainly let the road reach up to meet me.
Here's to 2012 and New Beginnings !!!!
